The General Educational Development (GED) provides an opportunity for adults who did not finish high school to receive a high school equivalency diploma. There are several reasons an individual may want to take the GED test. These reasons range from satisfying a personal goal, to encouraging family and friends, and to furthering an individual’s education.

        The GED test consists of a battery of five tests: Writing Skills, Social Studies, Science, Interpreting Literature and the Arts, and Math. Tests are given during the week with Tuesday for Math and Writing Skills.  On Wednesday tests will be given for Social Studies, Science and Reading.  Test dates are listed on the back of the "downloadable" application.

        The GED testing fee is $55.00 for new testers and $11.00 per section repeated for re-testers. To reserve a GED testing slot please send in your prepayment to the above address. After we have received your prepayment, you will receive a receipt and confirmation letter by mail.  Each applicant must have a state or federal photo identification (like a driver’s license or state photo I.D. and one other proof of identification).

Age waivers…  All 17 year olds must have sections I, II, & III of an age wavier completed. All 18 year olds must have sections I and II of an age wavier completed. Also, 19 year old applicants who have been school during the current school year must have sections I & II completed of an age wavier.

 The Tennessee Technology Center at Crump has operated a GED center since 1988.
