TTC students support local food banks with a food drive
Students at TTC Crump are participating in the 15th Annual TTC Holiday Food Drive to collect food for those in need this holiday season. TTC Crump is one of 27 Tennessee Technology Centers across the state who are participating in this initiative.
All food collected remains in the local region of the 27 individual schools; TTC Crump will be donating their food collection to ministries in Hardin, McNairy, and Chester Counties.
According to the TBR Office of Technology Centers, "This is one of those events where everyone wins. The Center with the highest total in their division gets bragging rights, but we all can feel good about helping others in our communities. During the last 14 years, over 800,000 units of food have been collected and distributed across the state."
TTC Crump has 11 classes who are collecting donations. Each class has the opportunity to host a campus-wide activity to support their class' collection, including bake sales, grab bags, smoked bologna lunch, wellness checks, cookie sales, general food collection from the students, and seeking donations from outside sources. Photos below demonstrate each of the 11 classes as they plan for collections, carry in food, or count the units collected.
At the end of this first week, students have already collected a total of 4,787 units of food, which has an estimated value of $2394. All TTC Crump tallies must be submitted to the TBR Office of Technology Centers by noon on December 10, 2012.
Public donations will also be accepted and delivered to a local ministry. For more information on how to support the food drive call (731) 632-3393.
