Collision Repair Technology

This is course provides the necessary instruction in repairing collision damaged unitized vehicles. With the Chief E-Z liner systems, students learn how to analyze and repair damage back to manufacturer’s specifications. The refinishing course offers students advanced painting techniques including single stage urethane and base coat/clear coat systems.  The entire course is designed around 20 months as an average for completion and is offered year round. A majority of the student’s training time is centered around “hands on” shop training projects. Our curriculum is based on ASE guidelines.

The collision repair students enjoy a four day school week. The Collision Repair Class class meets Monday through Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Successful completion of the program requires a minimum of a C (77) average at all exit levels and satisfactory attendance. Current fees for full-time students are $662 per term and estimated total book and tool costs are $1,057.

 

Painting and Refinishing Assistant

Certificate - 864 hrs - 1st and 2nd Trimesters

  • Ability to read service information, specifications, and measurements.
  • Ability to maintain and perform routine maintenance on air supply system.
  • Ability to select right repair material for particular job.
  • Basic understanding of various fasteners used in automotive construction.
  • Vehicle surface preparation and masking.
  • Shop safety and efficiency.
  • Using power and hand tools.
  • Proper use and maintenance of welding equipment.
  • Straightening sheet metal.
  • Using Body fillers.
  • Repairing plastics.
  • Restoring corrosion protection.

Structural/Nonstructural Repairer

Certificate - 1296 hrs - 3rd Trimesters(Pre-requisites)

  • Understanding of vehicle construction.
  • Measuring collision damage in both frame and unibody vehicles.
  • Panel replacement.
  • Ability to realign frame and unibody vehicles.
  • Basic ability to service electrical and electronic systems.
  • Basic ability in restraint systems operation and service.

Auto Body Repairer Technician

Diploma - 1728 hours - 4th Trimester (Pre-requisites)
and/or Automotive Painter

Diploma - 1728 hours - 4th Trimester(Pre-requisites)

  • Full understanding of refinish equipment.
  • Ability to perform spray gun and booth maintenance.
  • Ability to perform all refinish procedures.
  • Understanding of color matching and custom painting.
  • Compounding and final detailing.

Automotive Collision Technician

Diploma - 2150 hours - 5th Trimester
(Pre-requisites)Completion of all prior certificates.

  • Job Success and ASE Certification
  • Student will refine all necessary skills used in automotive repair.
  • Students who become competent in the knowledge and use of the Chief E-Z Liner frame machine will earn the certificate listed below:
    • ASE Certified Technician
      Chief E-Z Liner Frame Technician
      (Supplemental Certificate) 5th Term
