Computer Information Technician (CIT)
The computer industry constantly evolves at an ever-increasing pace. This curriculum guide sets the minimum standards for the CIT program. A student leaving with a certificate or diploma will have mastered all the competencies for that certificate or diploma. Additional materials and units of study can be added to this program, at the local campus level, that is needed and relevant to their service area. The competencies provide flexibility to better serve each school’s service delivery area needs.
Students achieving the Desktop Technician Certificate will be prepared to complete the A+ Certification Exams. The Networking Specialty and the Security+ certificates will prepare students for the Network+ and the Security+ exams.
In addition, students who elect to continue their training and complete the IT Specialist Diploma will be prepared to take for the MCP or MCSA Certification Exams. Once completing the IT Systems Coordinator Diploma training, they will be prepared to sit for the MCSE Exam. Instructors may include other national certifications. The flexibility allows the student and instructor to focus on the certification that will be the most beneficial to the student.
